Art as a Resource for wellbeing
A Creative Approach
to Counselling and Psychotherapy
Hi, and welcome to the blog. This is the space where you get to ask your questions about using a creative approach to counselling and psychotherapy. It doesn’t matter which modality you have trained in; it is always possible to bring in a new perspective by including the creative process. Creative tools and techniques can only enhance the therapeutic relationship you already have and introduce them to a life skill that will be a resource for them to take away long after they have finished therapy with you. This does not make you an art therapist, and if clients want to work exclusively with images, you could refer them on. By taking a creative approach to what you already do, you will widen your therapeutic approach and include the client and their process in a new way. It all starts with you developing your own Creative Practice and becoming familiar with the way the creative process works.
